Spirit of Steel is a home-based industry inspired by the character and spirit of metal to create beautiful wall art as well as functional items such as key holders and specialized wall hooks for coats, jewelry, belts, garden and braai tools and many other uses. We specialise in medal hangers, personalised with a name , number of hooks and illustration of the sport or activity that the medals relate to. Your medal hanger is not just functional but will be a beautiful wall decoration that celebrates your achievements. My interest in drawing, creating, inventing, designing and building things started from a very young age and throughout my life I have been involved in various forms of artistic expression in a variety of mediums. Pen and ink drawing, oil pastels, air brushing and painting, sign writing, paving designing and photography are just some of the interests I have explored over the years

Come visit us

We are based in Pinetown and we exhibit every Saturday at the Shongweni Farmer’s Market. We can post or courier orders to anywhere in South Africa and overseas. So far we know that our products are spread right through South Africa and Namibia, UK, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, India, Canada, USA, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Scotland, Ireland, Japan, China, Alaska, Austria and Germany.

We are in the process of creating a home shop where the products will be on display and people can drop in for a cup of coffee while they browse and place their order.

Mission Statement

My desire to create beautiful artworks from metal started back in the 70’s but only really manifested in 2013 when I was able to semi-retire. The concept of the wall hooks came about because we needed a key holder for our home. We weren’t able to find one that suited our needs so I designed and made the first one. Once I had made the jigs and acquired other necessary equipment it was easy to produce hooks in quantity and they became handy gifts for friends and family. The response was extremely encouraging and so the idea of designing and manufacturing different types of hooks for different purposes was born.

We are happy to create customised items according to your specific needs and we are always up for new challenges.

All our hooks and and metal designs are made from mild steel. After the laser cutting, bending and welding processes they are sent for electro galvanising and powder coating to protect against rust.
